Send in the Clowns

As Mia slept, the clowns came in.

"You're never too young to enjoy a clown," they said as they sang her sweet songs.

Even the clowns were in awe of her cuteness. And in her sleep, she smiled.

Mia's first journey outside of a hospital. (That ambulance ride to Boston doesn't really count.)

Mia approves of fresh air and sunshine.

Enjoying the garden.

Was Mia sticking her tongue out at me?

Come home soon, all the love.

Hi Francesca, Noah and Mia,
Noah, I am not sure if you remember me, Toni Ann Schmitt from JMMES. I remember when you student taught at JMMES. I have been reading your blog and I am amazed at your strength. You and Francesca are a great team during this extremely difficult time. I, too, understand what it is like to watch your child suffer. My son has Epilepsy and had neurosurgery in January. He is doing well-we take it one day at a time. Have faith in your doctors, you are in a wonderful hospital and surrounded by current technology and amazing staff. Aren't the nurses amazing! Be well, stay strong, and shower your beautiful little angel with love, and hugs, and kisses. You are amazing...we are sending prayers to you each and every day.
You are inspirational...
Toni Ann Schmitt

Wow - you have all been so very busy!! What a terrific article and picture of Mia in the paper. It sounds like we missed something very special.

I was at the Bronx Zoo yesterday with Katy's class and enjoying the day, wondering if you would be outside with Mia. Sure enough. And glad to see she had a hat on. We wouldn't want to be making Nick nervous!!!

The picture of the three of you is so great. That picture of Mia with her tongue sticking out a little is a riot!! Such a baby look. All of a sudden she is looking so grown up.

I was at Sloan with Alice on her birthday when the clowns came and it was such an amazing experience. I think they are really angels in disguise, don't you? It certainly looked like Mia was dreaming of angels/clowns in that picture. And looking perfectly comfortable in her helmet. Missing you all and sending lots of hugs and love - Aunt M
