Meditation for Mia

February 8, 2008

Dear Friends,

Sunday marks Mia’s 1 year birthday. It has been quite a first year to say the least, and hard to imagine that much time has passed. But as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun, and more than not that’s what this year has been.

This year has been one miracle after the next, as Mia has met head on some pretty major challenges and surpassed all expectations, growing and thriving in her own way. There is divine intervention at work here I am sure of it. Our lives have been graced with many angels, from family to therapists to doctors to complete strangers. This Sunday will be more than just a day to celebrate Mia’s life, it will also be a day to reflect on the things in our lives that we are grateful for, and to appreciate what there is, rather than what there is not.

We invite you on Sunday to take a moment and send some healing energy and thoughts of love our way. We will be having a small celebration here with some family and friends and sit in a group meditation for Mia. We invite you to do the same, in your own way, whether it’s an intention for Mia in your own daily meditation practice, a quiet prayer to yourself, or just a simply a kind thought about our little beloved at some point during the course of your day. Thank you!

Enjoy and know that you are loved.

It's Been Such a Long Time

December and January were such busy months! We had a great trip back to NY to spend Christmas and New Year's with everyone. Mia is doing really great. She has been battling colds and fevers this winter, but her immune system seems to be doing what it's supposed to.

She's now over 19 lbs as we approach her one year birthday! Here's some pics from as far back as November, but mostly from our Christmas trip to NY and some from the New Year back in Newton.

We got the chance to visit my Aunt Helen and cousins Elaine and Maureen.

We did an impromptu baptism for Mia when we were in New York. Francesca's brother Gerard was the godfather and sisters Mary and Elizabeth the co-godmothers.

She makes me laugh.

Mary Kate was in town!

Mia's chair! She loved to swat the little red dog. We started feeding Mia solid foods. So far she's had butternut squash, strawberries, applesauce, string beans, and avacodo. She loved sitting in this chair and eating.
