All You Need Is Love

A cold and icy Happy Valentine's Day to all!
I can already see how Mia knows what's best for us. I am very happy that we did not have to make the drive today from Bridgehampton to Stony Brook for Mia's delivery as originally planned.
No, I think our little girl knew today would be a wicked day for traveling (though it didn't stop a couple of Grandma's and Aunt Lizzie from coming to visit anyway!) It seems that a lot of other little girls and boys didn't mind the weather however, as the maternity ward and NICU are fast filling up with new Valentine's Day arrivals and new neighbors for Mia!

Mia has been moved to her own isolette, a tiny plastic box that will keep her warm and safe. It's nice and quiet and has all her things close by....

...the Valentine's Day cards we made her and her little stuffed panda bear brought by some wonderful angels in the hospital....

....and her little birth card with her tiny foot prints and her measurements on the day she was born!

Mia is holding up well. I'm sure she's happy to be in her new little home. Getting moved to the isolette means she doesn't need to be poked a prodded too much anymore. She has been able to come off of the respirator and is mostly breathing on her own again. She has a tiny tube in her nose just to stimulate the air in case she forgets to take a breath on her own, but so far she's doing great. She still has her little eye mask on to shield her eyes from the light that warms her skin and takes away the jaundice.

As for mom and dad, well we're holding up the best we can. Nothing can really be said of the tremendous support of our family and friends through all of this. Believe me we appreciate every thought, gesture, and prayer. Keep them coming and realize that with love as your motivation, all things are possible.
