Summer 2009

Happy Summer finally! Now that we're past the June gloom, July has been beautiful. June was a hard month for us, as Mia spent a little time in the hospital for an infection and spent weeks recovering and gaining her strength back. We had to postpone visits to Long Island twice now, but we're hoping to get away next week for a little visit.
Below is a little review of the last couple of months. Some great videos of Mia before she got sick, being as expressive as we've ever seen. It is amazing how far she has come, and how she has gone from being a baby to a little girl. Her spirit and determination to enjoy life inspires us everyday. Enjoy the photos and videos and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Back in May, Mia was working with her OT, Jennifer, and smiled more than we've ever seen her smile before. She was having so much fun. May 26, 2009

Mia seemed to have fun with Mr. Bug, a little vibrating toy, at first but then not sure if she liked him. She is very particular with touch and especially vibration. May 26, 2009

An incredibly expressive night for Mia. She was making several new sounds we had never heard as well as really moving her arms and hands well. May 28, 2009

Looking at Mia's new favorite book, "Horton Hears a Who", a gift from our dear friend Tom and his daughter Sydney. May 31, 2009

At the beginning of June Mia was hospitalized for 6 days for an intestinal infection called C. difficile. This is us at the tail end of her stay. It's a pretty nasty infection and it's taken a while for her to fully recover. Her last test showed negative so it would seem the bug has finally left. It is truly incredible the amount of strength that Mia has in her little body. June 11, 2009

We spent the 4th of July weekend in Connecticut with Francesca's brother, Gerard. Such a relaxing and fun weekend! Here the girls unwind by the pool.

Hi, all in MA! It is truly inspirational to watch Mia evolve. She is so full of vim and vigor. And her parents look great, too. Hope you all have a wonderful trip to Bridgehampton, and I hope to see that eyeful in person.

Still enjoying your updates. Mia is getting so big. I love the picture of Mia and her Mommy at the pool and the one of you and your little girl...so precious.

I'm glad Mia recovered from her illness and is feeling better. Stay strong and enjoy the rest of your summer.

God Bless
