Sneakin' Out the Hospital

Well, we didn't really have to sneak, they let us go although they were sad to see us leave, and in some strange way so were we. We formed many close relationships with the doctors, nurses, and clinical assistants, as well as other families also facing extreme tests of faith. We were leaving them as well as the security of knowing they were always there should we need them. Now it's all up to us.

Testing the car seat before departure.

Life in a hospital is all we've known for the last three and a half months, and when it came time to leave it was actually quite emotional. It was only fitting that as we were literally walking out the door, Dr. Berry, the man we came to Boston to see, was on the way in and was able to see us off. He told us we were tremendous parents, a wonderful compliment coming from him, both a tremendous doctor and human being.

Katelyn, Mia's primary care nurse! We love her!

We'll still see Dr. Berry, as well as some of the others from time to time. Mia will need follow up appointments at the hospital for a while. Because of this we have decided to stay in the Boston area for a while to make sure Mia is getting the best care she can get in the treatment of her metabolic disorder.

With Katelyn and Amanda, the bestest clinical assistant!

These shoes were made for walkin', right the heck outta this hospital!

We have waited a long time for this moment.

I'll get some pics from home up a soon as possible. Even with Grandma Martha here lending a very helpful hand, Mia still manages to demand 110% attention. She's doing really great and loves being with us all the time. Stay tuned.

If we ever get to do this whole thing over, I want you two to be my parents
You guys are fun. I think of the three of you singing and dancing together. Then being quiet and just taking each other in. Mia chose well.
WE LOVE YOU, POPAA ANS MS M.

Congrats on leaving the hospital. I am so happy for you both and for Mia. Finally "home" with Mom and Dad. Glad you're staying in Boston for a while, such a good idea.

I love the post from POPAA ANS MS M. about wanting the two of you to be their parents. So cute and so true.

You are incredible. Keep it up.

Dear Francesca, Noah and Bella Mia

If I had to compare your journey thus far to literature the story would be called:
"Mia in the land of OZ"
California was your Kanas, and than a huge storm and toranado which landed in Boston.

You followed the yellow brick road to land at Boston Children's(OZ) but you met and had guidance from people that loved Mia, you and Noah!

The nurses, social workers, etc were all the munckins, your Dr was your Scarecrow and your family and friends represented tinman and lion.

They all were guiding the 3 of you to protect you from Mia's illness who represents the bad witch!!!

You havr gotten to this day thus far with the love and devotion of many family, friends, professionals, but most of all the love, committment and devotion that Mia has with you both.

So when I look at that pic of Mia's pink shoes, they represent her special red shoes, and she has clicked them 3x's and we all here those words from her tiny heart!

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME,
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!!

There is a special traditon in the jewish faith, when you enter a new part of your life always lead with your right foot!!

Love
Norie
